For Driver Development and Active Competitors

Driver Development Telephone Consultation with Mike Calinoff (30 Minutes)

Be prepared for Mike Calinoff's candid approach -- he'll tell you like it is. If he feels you are wasting your time trying to advance your career, he'll tell you so. If your age is a factor or you're not willing to make the necessary sacrifices to move ahead, Mike will advise you accordingly. By the end of the conversation, you'll both have an idea of which way your career is headed. Don't be offended if Mike tells you not to quit your day job.

Mike has a very keen sense of what it takes to make it to the top. He is accustomed to winning and has been to Victory Lane over 80 times in four NASCAR Series and ARCA. Mike has been working in NASCAR for the last 25 years in many roles. For the past six seasons, he has worked with 2003 NASCAR Champion, Matt Kenseth, as his Spotter. Beginning in 2006 he moves to Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates as the Spotter and Business Manager for Rookie of the Year candidate, David Stremme. Mike continues to be a popular figure with the motorsports media. He can be heard often with Claire B. Lang on XM Radio and on the nationally syndicated "John Boy & Billy Big Show". This past year, Mike was featured on NBC's "Today Show".

Over the past several years, Mike has taken an interest in the Driver Development process -- counseling many drivers, such as NASCAR Busch North Series Rookie of the Year, Sean Caisse.

If you are a parent of a young driver and wish to speak to Mike on their behalf, you are more than welcomed to do so as well.

Once your online payment has been confirmed, Mike will send you an email with instructions. You will need to send him a brief outline of your experience, and to what level of racing you wish to achieve. After reviewing your information, Mike will send you an email so that you can set up a mutually agreeable time to speak. You will have the option of having Mike call you or you calling him.

Send Mike your email address at: driverdevelopment@earthlink.net. Please put CONSULTATION in the subject line.

Race teams are inundated every day with large envelopes and packages containing 25-page driver portfolios. They contain all sorts of unnecessary information, like where you finished in the point standings when you were driving quarter-midgets at age six or a photo of you with your first checkered flag in go-carts. Team owners do not care about that information. They are too busy to sift through paperwork and figure out if you might be their next star.

By today's standards, less is more. Simple facts, verifiable data and an impressive photo can catch their attention in a minute. You can accomplish this one of two ways:

Standard Driver Resume

A Standard Driver Resume might do the trick. We keep them simple, factual and easy for a team owner to read. This resume will be accompanied by a cover letter that we customize from you and a headshot that you've had professionally done.

Interactive Driver Resume

Have you ever received a free computer disk in the mail or as an add-on to a magazine? Free disks still hold a certain fascination for most people, in spite of the recent onslaught of disks from America Online and other online services. There's something inside us that just won't allow us to discard the disk until we've fully examined the contents.

For those seeking a driving opportunity, this CD mystique can work very nicely to your advantage. Because when used to present your resume, it can turn an otherwise plain and drab piece of paper into a truly personal presentation. While most resumes arrive in a standard #10 envelope and are relegated to mass review and filing, a resume on disk arrives in a non-standard sized diskette mailer. And we'll tell you how to have it receive special attention and fall into the right hands.

This too is a simple and factual information tool, but studies have shown that even those who are busy will take time to see what it's all about. It's a four to six page CD with accenting graphics that is certain to grab some attention. You'll send your CD along with a tailored cover letter that we will prepare.
